Stormy Air Quick lightning strikes Killing nightfall’s peace Death is in the air.
Which skin is mine?
I wonder if that mirrored face Could be touched by me That empty shell of deception Seems to live a life of pure luxury
Never has to feel with shock The rivets of confused passion Smoothly running through grooves of uncertainty. The denied misconceptions of subtle world Are unknown to that blank face. This organization of feeling Configuring to grasp the sane better half Proves to focus on future longings. Lost in between what I am And what I try to be Hidden myself so many times over Whilst the alienated beliefs I possess Are so real they’re tempting to reject Yet the only purpose of my lonely nights Is the treasured chance they will never race. Stephanie Shields (10H) WINNER 2005 DORIS TOWNSEND (WARAKER) BURSARY I’ve forgotten how I started Which feelings are pretend Which skin is mine.
