Screams of agony, Burning tears of anguish, Gunfire shots, Excruciating pain ... That’s what he remembers.

Cries of his mother, As she disappeared Into pitch-black ashes Never to return ... That’s what he remembers.

Repugnant odour Of beet-red blood Putrid bodies

Revulsion and sorrow etched deeply Into the lines of his elderly face,
