>.- The lively active involvement of girls from all Year levels in this years Kirsten Jack Memorial Leukaemia Committee has held rewards for members of the committee, the broader Grammar community, patients at the Royal ChildrenS Hospital and other beneficiaries of the Royal ChildrenS Hospital Fund alike. Kirsten Jack, as a student at Brisbane Girls Grammar School, was known as "a keen girl with pleasant manners". Diagnosed with acute Ieukaemia in Year I O, she passed away before commencing Year I I in 1977 it is in her memory that the committee is continued, and it was with the display of posters about Ieukaemia and KirstenS life that the efforts of the committee for this year began Term I saw the committee raiseJust over $ I I 00 for the Royal ChildrenS Hospital through dedicated and enthusiastic teamwork Many thanks must go to Mrs Murphy, the Drama staff and all the brilliant actresses involved with the Inter house Drama for allowing us to collect donations at the door to their Drama Festival in Term I and for attracting such large audiences. Thank you also to Oxfam and Spotless Catering for their kind donation of ground coffee for our coffee and cake stall, and to the many Grammar girls who responded to our determined selling of raffle tickets We regained momentum after a less than
A symbol of health and longevity as well as a reference to the Japanese story of childhood radiation-induced Ieukaemia victim Sadako, folded paper cranes are the feature of our newly developed committee logo As this goes to press, the committee are deep in organization for our Inaugural Trivia Night in Term N Through this night we hope to reach a cross-section of students not thus far affected by our endeavours to further increase student awareness of Kirsten Jacks life and Ieukaemia and related diseases while as always raising as much money as possible for the Royal ChildrenS Hospital The Kirsten Jack Memorial Leukaemia Committee has this year developed a noteable camaraderie which was central to the spirited fulfillment of our alms. Whilst the many new friendships and experiences gained may be considered sufficient reward, committee members are to be coinmended for their great Involvement this year We would like to thank Miss Nabi, and the staff Co-obinators Ms J 0'5ullivan and Ms H Forster for their much appreciated guidance and organizational support, and know that the immediate future of the Kirsten Jack Memorial Leukaemia Committee is bright We wish future committees all the best in their efforts

successful 'dress the Barbie doll' competition, and Semester 2 saw the designing of a committee logo and further successful fundraising. Well done Ruth and Kaya for a fantasticJob with the screen-printing of our committee shirts! We looked and felt wonderful in them as we sold helium balloon and taught the folding of paper cranes on Open Day. These cranes were later taken by committee members to decorate the Royal ChildrenS Hospital when we visited to share some cheer and run a crane-folding activity with the sick children and their siblings

their heat and performed in the semifinals, learning a lot from the competition A1 members are looking forward to next year

Theatres ports Queensland ran a workshop for interested Grammar girls, that improved the skills of all who attended. After many practises, and lunchtime rehearsals, students auditioned for a place in the two competitive teams to represent Girls Grammar in the
