>.- The 2003/2004 Cricket season has been extremely successful and enjoyable. Grammar once again fielded 5 teams over the three divisions of the competition, with premiership glory going to the I st XI, defending both their Metropolitan North and Brisbane premiership titles. The 1st XI, captained by LEIura Kidd 112Lj and Samantha Gregg (120), won all but one match. They set aside an early loss to achieve a convincing win against their main rivals, 51 MargaretS A, for the Metropolitan North Division One premiership. They continued on to beat Brisbane State High School in a nail-biting finish for the Galy Bromiley Shield, a feat that attests to individual dedication and team spirit November 2003 saw the inaugural Under 17 State Cricket Competition. Four Grammar girls were selected in the Metropolitan North team' Amy Cunning ham 112Mj, Kate Saundersj12Gj, Laura Kidd 112Ljand 2003 graduate, Kirby Short. Laura and Kirby continued on to the Queensland Under 17 team, which won the National Championships at Geelong in January Mention must also be made of Allce Nicklin 9Wj, who won this seasons Encouragement Award and was chosen as a member of the Queensland Under 15 team The 2nd XI, captained by Natalie Davidson 11 0Ej, also competed in First Division Composed mainly of Junior players, this team showed skill, determination and the ability to improve in order to finish fifth. Annabelle O'Hare 19Rj and Natalie Davidson 11 IBj contributed fine performances throughout the season, and were involved in both of the I st XiS finals The 3rds and 4ths finished fourth and third respectively but special mention must be made of the 5ths, jinany of whom had never played cricket previouslyI, for their fourth placing Appreciation must be expressed to all the players, coaches, managers, scorers, and the Cricket Co- obinatoc Mr B Thomas, whose total commitment meant another successful year for Grammar cricket
