W ATE R P O L O The 2002/2003 water polo season at Brisbane Girls Grammar School has been one of many successes, opportunities and fun. Most teams experienced outstanding success and a number of girls from all age groups made representative teams ranging from Metropolitan North to National level. However, Grammar Water Polo is not only about succeeding within the sport. it is, for all players, about meeting new people, learning new skills and most importantly, enjoying playing a rewarding sport. The season began with great anticipation in early August 2002, with the team trials. More girls than ever before wanted to play water polo for Grammar. This included many new faces to the sport, particularly in the Under 13 division, and so a third team was added to this age group. These girls, still in primary school, were able to taste the Grammar spirit even before they started in Year 8. Thi eason Brisbane Girls Grammar School entered the largest number of teams we have ever entered into the Brisbane Junior Water Polo Competition The water polo season was to be one of hard work, both in training and at games every Saturday from October to March Every week girls attended swimming, water polo training and games, but on semi-finals day, Grammar had 10 out of the twelve teams represented. On Grand Final day, eight teams were still playing with four wins recorded

over Easter, an U14 and an U17 team. The U14 team, coached by Anna Moore. performed exceptionally well, becoming State Champions and scoring 100 goals over the two days. with only 5 scored against them. The U17 team, coached by Scott Schweickle had to battle hard, being in the tournament. This ru n ners-u p state wide competition again once highlighted the tremendous depth of talent within Grammar Water Polo. Annabelle Karrasch and Sophie Smith Captains

Yet another celebration for the Under 13As

The U13As, U14As and U15As went through the competition undefeated. The U14Bs were the other premiership team. This domination of the Younger age groups augurs well for the future of Grammar Water Polo This Year, Grammar entered 2 teams Into the State Championships
