PERFORMANCE

THE HOUSE OF BERNADA ALBA The challenge set for this Year's Senior Production cast was to perform the classic Spanish play, The House of Bernardo Alba. Set in the early 1900s. it focuses on the lives of Bernarda Alba and her five daughters after they embark on an eight- year period of mourning, following the death of their father. The plot follows the deceit and betrayal which ensues. The final performance was a result of many hours of rehearsals and workshops, with strong support from our competent. backstage crew. Not only did this play engage its audience, but also helped the actors further develop their skills.

This production, for me personally, was the culmination of four Years of Drama within Grammar. Over the past four years I have been involved in twelve productions, all of which have helped greatly in enriching my experience at school. Not only has it helped in my Drama studies, but also in developing confidence and skills. Through Brisbane Girls Grammar School I have not only been taught techniques and styles that have been used through the centuries, but how to use Drama as a reflective mechanism that can be used in our ever-changing world. Throughout my Senior years, both Drama productions and Drama as a subject, have taught me to think outside the square and develop qualities that will hopefully assist me on the next step into the wider world Lastly I would like to thank Mrs Murphy and the Creative Arts Faculty for giving me the opportunity to be School Drama Captain this Year. Hopefully I have been able to give back to the School, some of the passion that Drama has evoked in me Prudence Healey Drama Captain
