You Don Look L ke Ice Creaml FOR PADDY AND HIS GIRLS All of those ittle things. The detai s we don't notice, Or do notice. strive to 'always remember: Promptly forget. No more. Towards the end, he had loved to sit on the deck of their little house And take in the view. Look out around him. It had been his idea to move into that house. He wanted a garden, Something he could fix up himself. His girls were happy in the Apartmen but he loved this gorgeous little house And so they moved in. He worked on the garden with great gusto. Just like he'd done everything his whole life. The little sections of grass, the bordering rocks. He seemed satisfied. He just wanted somewhere he could have chickens! His wife insisted, 'no more of those damn chickens' He turned to her. and smiled reassuring Iy. Of course not He smuggled three home that afternoon. His wife rolled her eyes and His Youngest adopted them He'd always been this way. Charming, cheeky. He knew exactly what to say to get what he considered to be The best out of any situation. Most people would never believe the things he pulled off. No one knew if he stopped to question this amazing talent either, Or whether it was such an intrinsic part of him that He didn't get scared. Did being sick terrify him? He had forever been The One Who Could Get It! The One Who Could Get Out of It I The One Who Could Get Away With it! (Whatever 'It' may bel Joking, negotiating, being enticing and enchanting These could help him win. but he didn't know if they could Help him win this one' Everyone is jealous of a man like that His girls weren't jealous. They marvelled, flushed, screamed and Laughed at him. Maybe. just sometimes, they hated him. Though never with the strength that they loved him. For he was Passionate, and passionate people invoke incredible responses. People could never imagine what it would be like to Live life as he did. With that much vigour and intensity. The kind of life with two things constantly racing one another Mind and Mouth! Both working at astonishing, Lightning-whipped speed. incredible to see in action Both determined to keep up with one another Maybe that was partly how he kept it for so long. That, and his absolute, unrelenting conviction to keep on living The incredible life that he had. When he got sick, he was sure he'd be able to fight it. The rest of the world had no idea of the staggering things he was Going through. He just kept on joking, laughing His personality shining out as his body Began to fail him. And then, towards the end, everything began to Speed up and slow down. A slow motion car wreck, Everything captured in horrific detail to maximise the true horror The devastation. The routine began. Long trips to the hospitals. Tests. Drugs Doctor's diagnoses just kept on coming! Uust kept on getting worse). His girls still so shocked, inspired maybe, by his resolve, his Knowledge that he would get better! Things began to crumble inside Slowly, the sickness took hold. His hair was gone The excuse? A boyish practical joke. Everyone laughed - 'So like him: He started to get really tired, needing naps at lunchtime.
