boarders

best of friends. This is not necessarily a good thing Prerequisites for being a boarder are being addicted to Neighbours, Home and Away DowsonS Creek, Bold and the Beautiful, MeteodS Daughters and Sex ^^ the City. Every girl attempts seances, sleeping on the veranda, breaking into the common room. rakis, climbing out over the veranda and on to the Science block roof, sneaking pizza in and sliding down the banister rails at least once Outside the Boarding House, I am the Vice Captain of Grimth House and the Treasurer of the Interact Club. I have

played cricket for the School for four Years and volleyball for three Years As well, many weekend afternoons were spent p aying games of basketball against BOYS Grammar, tennis on roller blades and sardines. I think it is fair to say that nobody knows the School and its drainpipes better than the Boarders If there is one thing that I have learnt, it is that only one person can fit in a storm water drain. I only wish that my wisdom could be imparted to future generations of Grammar Boarders

Many of the girls in my House Group comment on how I was a very shy, quiet girl in comparison to my often loud and obnoxious self. I attribute it to the shock of coming from Mundubbera. a small country town in central aueensland where my primary school had a total of 32 students. I have been in the Boarding House since day one and have experienced the ups and downs of boarding. From the embarrassing boarders concerts to the "bitchy" days of Year 9, we have had it all. Always being the Young group of girls in the Boarding House has had its price, but it has left the group more open than many of the

Hope Adams: The B-House Many people conceive the boarders as poor, deprived and lonely, lost without their precious mothers. At least, we, the boarders perpetuated this idea when we were "scabbing" money for the tuckshop From Year 8, the Year 125 taught us the value of the story about the bandaid in the beef stroganoff in manipulating the day girls to our every whim MY name is Hope but everyone seems to have their own nickname for me. I came to Grammar at the end of the Christmas holidays in 1998 and went into Grimth House

Naturally, the six very individual girls I shared "home" with did not stay strangers for too long. Living with six other girls Your own age. all trying to cope with the stresses of Year 12 in different ways, can have its ups and downs. Some days, particularly when it's close to the end of term, all I can think about is going home Other times I never want to leave Although I don't get half the personal jokes from Year 8.9 and 10 when they're brought up at the dinner table. in my two Years boarding there have been some experiences that I will never forget. From the war over the jumper to physically removing someone from a chair over a difference of opinion concerning what show to watch on N. In Year 12 we have been spoilt with trips to Mommo Mio, cool restaurants and my favourite privilege - getting cooked breakfasts while the rowers look on jealously I started at BGGS as a day girl going into Year 9150 Yes. I missed the bridge building and Spring Hill assignment fun of Year 81. I took advantage of a lot of opportunities that the School offers, and I think that it's fair enough to say Ias the cross country girls do) You only get what You give. Next year I hope to study pharmacy and see how that goes. In the future, all I really want is to be happy and successful with everything I do. I've been given so many amazing opportunities, and hopefully I've made the most of them and will continue to do so throughout my life. Boarding hasn't changed my life, it hasjust added to 't. All the good, the bad and the unforgettable

Vicki Fleming: My Story I'm not a purebred boarder. I come from a place everyone has heard of. where there's 00 sign of any fruit, sheep or country boys. I didn't board because my family comes from the country, where there is 00 secondary schooling available. I didn't board because my brothers and sisters all boarded before me. I boarded because my Dad Iwho's in the Armyj was sent to Sydney and my Mum went with him, leaving me to live with complete strangers for my last two Years of schooling
