Rockclimbing Another fun filled Year of Rocklimbing was had by all. This Year has brought many new faces. Including members from Years 9 and 10. as well as a very enthusiastic attendance from Boys Grammar. After much patience and waiting, the Year 8 students were eventually given the opportunity to climb at the beginning of third term. The wait was well worth it as they had a great time. All students have enjoyed climbing and have improved greatly since the beginning of the Year Some changes have occurred for this Year's climbing. in the holidays leading up to the beginning of the school Year. the holds on the walls were altered to create new routes, which have provided new challenges for our climbers who had mastered last Years' walls. But the hardest and highest wall, "Cats Walk", has remained a very difficult challenge. with only a few senior climbers being able to reach the top via the face. The addition of new boots has Increased climbing ability and decreased the boy's barefoot blisters. Also some new colourful ropes have been added. which brighten the decor of the gym Some of the climbers were involved in the Bastlle Day Assembly. As the School watched. Georgina Brown and Amy Smith climbed to the platform of "Sheer Relief', and Nikki Solomon. Honorary Rock Climbing Captain, climbed to the roof of "Deadset Legend': The French flags were waved and then draped down the wall We prayed that our audience below were safe from incoming falling flags. however, our luck ran out during the end of the assembly. as gravity took over and a flag was dropped to the great amusement of the audience, IAmy blushed as red as a tomatoi. Our overseas visitors from Germany and France were also able to have fun with the rockclimbing experience.
