The Year 9 teams had an outstanding season, becoming one of the most successfu age groups in recent Years The Year 10 age group impressed peers and supporters with wonderful improvement this season. Under the guidance of their coaches, their attitudes and play flourished. The 10B took a loss in their stride early in the season, to become an otherwise undefeated, and first-placed team They ended their season on a high point against rivals, State High, with an unbelievable score 53 to 4. The 10As also had a successful season placing third overall. Some great Individual performances by Kaya Kawahita, were matched by the rest of the team, making the 10As a force to be reckoned with. With this depth of talent, the Senior division next Year looks both promising and exciting The two senior teams played extremely wellin what, for the Year 125, was their final aGSSSA season as Grammar basketballers. The Senior A team this Year played a perfect season, winning the premiership undefeated. Their commendable team cohesion was evident In games such as the fixtures against St Aidan's. which was won 81 to 16. All team members played superbly through the season. with commendable performances by Iennifer Nicholls and Frances Bain. The Open team had an extremely successful season. This team's dedication was evident not only throughout the terms, but also during their holiday training. which provided them with the skills and positive attitude with which they met their arch rival schools. which was for some, the fifth, and final time With a thrilling end to the season, the Open Team batt ed it out against State High, to take second place with a one- point margin With these results, and 4 out of 8 premierships, the successfu 2002 season, was one enjoyed by players, coaches and managers alike, and hopefully one that future Grammar basketballers w'11 emulate
The Year 8A and 8B teams were welcomed to Grammar Basketball and set about making the Year a learning experience. The BBS close loss to St Margaret's at the beginning of their season prepared the girls for their future fixtures. and after training hard, they came back to win the major'ty of the remainder of their games, placing third. The 8As had a fantastic start to the season, with a great contribution by the many talented players. This team displayed an understanding of the game and played some thrilling, close matches. All the Year 85 developed skills and positive attitudes, which they w'11 be able to develop in their careers as Grammar basketballers
Year 9 teams again this Year enjoyed the sweet scent of success, dominating the court and overwhelming the opposition. They built on the skills they had developed in Year 8, and both teams remained undefeated. The 9Bs began their season with promise and great enthusiasm, which carried through to their tough last game in which they battled it out against State High to win first place. The 9As, Inspired by their peers' achievements, Their dominance was demonstrated by the scoreboard, with a score of 66 to nil against St Aidan's. The deadly accurate shooting of Michaela fom and the speed up the court of Alexandra Kidd stormed the court, shooting and rebounding their way to success
Basketball
The aGSSSA Basketball Season for 2002, although short, was filled with outstanding success, dedication and teamwork, and was thoroughly enjoyable. Starting in fourth term of 2001, tr'als demonstrated the depth of talent at BGGS. Joined by the Year 8 teams in 2002, all girls displayed commitment to their teams, coaches and training schedules. The hard training and effort were put to the test in the Friday night fixtures with all teams competing against difficult and determined opposition. The results were encouraging, especially clean sweeps against both St Hilda's and St Aidan's
