The School Swimming Champion for 2002 was Sarah Holtam, who, having scored 30 individual points. went on to win the 50m Freestyle Championship During the SIX weeks of final preparation for the aGSSSA Carnival, Grammar hosted two time trial carnivals competing against other aGSSSA schools. This was an opportunity for Grammar swimmers to show their ability prior to the selection of the Grammar swim team for 2002 In the week prior to the annual aGSSSA Swimming Carnival, the spirit and enthusiasm of the Grammar Swim Team was evident throughout the school community and was further enhanced through various team activities. The most motivational of these activities was the guest appearance of Olympic athlete. GeofF Heugill, who spoke to the swimmers of his experiences and goals BGGS swimmers on the day of the aGSSSA carnival demonstrated their power and depth. as we marginal Iy placed third 1418.51 to the strong competition of More ton Bay College (5144) and Somervil!e House 1479.51. It was a commendable effort by all team members with some great Individual swims. Grammar placed first in a number of Individual events. These include

All age groups performed well. The final age group placings were
13 Years and under - third
16 Years - second 17 Years and over - third
14 Years - second 15 Years - fourth
As the 2002 captains. we were very proud of the school spirit and successes achieved by the Swim Team. it is hoped that the team has laid solid foundations and provided positive role models for the swimmers of the future. Congratulations to all swimmers whose hard work and dedication paid off this Year. Thanks are extended to all parents and supporters of the BGGS Swim Team 2002 and to staff supporters and officials. Finally. thanks must go to Mr Graham White, Head Coach and Mr Steve Stubbs. Assistant Coach. and Miss Jane Martel, staff co- ordinator of swimming, whose efforts have been rewarded through these pleasing results
