For each level, there are four sections to be completed The Service component must fun a genuine need in either a local or distant community and reflect long- term involvement of effort Expedition experiences encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery Skills develop personal interests and practiE51^5ility win^PhysiE51 Recreation is a means of participating and improving performance. At the Gold level, there 15 also a Residential component where candidates must spend five consecutive days in a residential setting with people who are not their usual companions Acting as a Senior on Junior camps at Imbil has fulfilled this requirement for many of our Gold candidates in the past. As you can see, achieving an Award really means something!

Through all of this. candidates meet people they have not spent time with before, learn new skills and come to value commitment and responsibility Not only do girls learn more about themselves and their abilities but they find ways in which they can contribute to their community More importantly for some, girls set goasan ac Ieve em. n e process they learn to manage time and make their own decisions Candidates become more confident and self-reliant Once again, we thank the staff at jinbil for the time and effort they put into tuning and testing for the Expedition section

Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme has operated in the School for many years and has seen hundreds of girls receive Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards Each Award reflects at least six months of ongoing effort and commitment for the participant "The Award Concept is one of individual challenge. it presents to young people a balanced, non- competitive program of voluntary artivities which encourages personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility to themselves and service to their community. " The firstlevel, Bronze, can be started at fourteen years of age, with requirements being greater as candidates progress through to
