Cross Country The 2001 Cross Country Season was an extremely successful and enjoyable one, full of many exciting competitions and excellent performances. The BGGS Cross Country team overcame all challenges showing their depth and talent by winning the QGSSSA Championship for the eighth consecutive year Coach Tony Booth had a permanent twinkle in his eye as we witnessed record attendances at preseason training. He knew that the 2001 season was going to be a memorable one. Challenging training sessions in Victoria Park prepared us well for the gruelling QGSSSA Championship course that lay ahead of us Victoria Park was transformed into a sea of colour as each House challenged the 2km Inter house Cross Country Course on Wednesday 13 August. All Houses displayed competitive spirit, with Hirschfeld House emerging the victors
Woolcock and Gibson House took out the minor placings. Age group winners were 13yrs - Sigrid Mewing (8G);14yrs - Lauren Gamer0 (90); 15yrs - Felicity Abram (IOH); 16yrs - Annabelle Marthews 0 10 and 17yrs - Victoria Royle a I M). Fellcity Abram was awarded the BGGS Inter house Cross Country Champion for 2001 with a course record time of 6 minutes and 24 seconds The BGGS Cross Country Squad had the opportunity to compete against other QGSSSA Schools throughout the season. The BGGS Relays were held on Saturday 12 October in Victoria Park. As parents and supporters enjoyed the wonderful picnic atmosphere, students from BGGS, State High, All Hallows; St Peters and BGS competed over the 3 x 2km relay course
