Artistic Gymnastics The QGSSSA Artistic Gymnastics competition on 17 and 18 May, was an extremely successful and Mining conclusion to the 2001 season The event was held at Morelon Bay College and over the two days of competition, the progressiveIy high standard of the girls' talents was noticed by all in attendance Grammar's performance was particularly outstanding, with teams achieving premierships in the 02, Dl, C and B grade divisions. The two grade 8 teams placed second to Moreton Bay, a commendable achievement considering the majority of girls were beginner gymnasts and dancers Moreton Bay. The team competed exceptionally well. considering the absence of Alaria Hew, our latest talent who was unfortunately for us, selected to represent Australia in the Asia Pacific Games in Japan where she obtained fourth placing on the floor were obtained~by Anna Hill. who representing Spring Hill Gymnastics, gained an overall third placing at the National titles held in Melbourne Mrs Hancock and Miss Williams as wellas members of the Physical Education staff and cheersquad were there to witness the amazing performances and talent of the girls and their presence was appreciated by the entire team Many thanks must be given to Mrs Hancock for her support and enthusiasm for Grammar Gymnastics over the years; she will be greatly missed in her retirement 2001 saw the largest gymnastics team ever from Grammar achieving fantastic results and this would not have been possible without the tireless enthusiasm and support of the coaching staff Mrs Nisbett, Kate Farmer, Candice Tyril, Lauren Pack and Other sensational results this year The A Grade competition was a thriller as always, with our team impressing the judges to obtain second place to strong rivals

Jim Rickert. with special mention going to our head coach and co- obinator, Mrs NICole Robbins. For the past twelve years she has been a devoted and encouraging friend to all, with this year being no exception The season saw the 'stars'of Grammar gymnastics shine brightly, as a result o eir e ICa I having fun. The spirit of the girls was evident during the dress-up training sessions and pre-competition afternoon party. The function at Tomato Brothers following the competition, was also a successful event with tears as well as awards plentiful throughout the proceedings A special acknowledgement must be given to the large contingent of Year 12 gymnasts, many of whom have contributed to the sport for five years Claudia Campbell, Anna Clemesha, Natalie Cranstoun, Sally Greenland, Nickie-Lee Hew, Phoebe MCGi^n, Danielle Morrison, Geraldine Wright, Chioe Watts and Serah Will is, have been outstanding role models to all the girls and have produced excellent performances for the school
