KATHLEEN CAMPBELL BROWN MEMORIAL FRENCH RETREAT
On Friday 11 August 2000, five students from the Year I I French classes accompanied by Roberta Kings and the French Assistante Laurence Somerset arrived at the Imbil Outdoor Memorial Education Centre for three days of intensive French. The aims of the Retreat were to speak French in an intensive environment and to consider aspects of the French culture. The retreat aimed to assimilate as much French culture as possible and French meals were planned and prepared by the students under the supervision of Mrs Kings throughout the weekend. Primarily, it was for students studying French in Year I I who were not participating in the StudyTour to France. Activities included playing French games and viewing French films. Planned activities were undertaken all day and evening. The student went about the tasks with enthusiasm and reported that the experience was exhausting, but that even by the second day they were more able and confident in using French.
