NETBALL

Grammar netball fraternity have enjoyed watching the Year 8 games each Saturday in term three with enthusiasm and excellent netball skills consistently on display. Players to look out for in the future include Katherine Davis, Clare North, Elyse Chant, Sophie Matthews, Teneille Jansons and Philippa Hastie to name but a few. We're also sure after this season that all Year 85 know the Grammar war cry off by heart, because they were always cheering one another on. The Year 95 also had an extremely successful season with all teams proving from the start that they would be a force to be reckoned with on the court. The 9C's unblemished record this season saw them take out the premiership under the watchful eye of coach, Sarah Estwick (Netball Captain 1999). However, with only one loss to IPswich early in the season, the 9B's must also rate mention for their consistently strong performances throughout season 2000. Although the 9A's only won three of their nine games, they always gave it their best shot, putting their best effort into every match and displaying Grammar sportsmanship on court. The two Year 10 teams played some awesome netball throughout the season. While the 10As won more games than they lost, the 10B's had a more successful season losing only the one game. Congratulations to all members of the 10B's as all girls contributed to the fine season they had. These results should see these girls go on to be valuable players in the Senior teams next year. Congratulations Year 10s and good luck next year.

With twelve teams competing in the QGSSSA competition this year, netball is one of the largest and most competitive sports Grammar has to offer. This season's results are testament to the depth of talent of the Grammar netballers. The Year 85 slipped into the QGSSSA routine easily after their warm up in the term two Interhouse competition where Woolcock House finished the round robin in first position. The depth of talent demonstrated in the three Year 8 teams has proven that this group will be an asset to Grammar netball for years to come. The 8As won all matches except for losses to State High and St Peter's, and a draw with More ton Bay College. The 8B's, under the very capable guidance of past student, Jane Menzies, took out the premiership and their undefeated record is a great start for the years ahead. The 8C's, although not having as many games, did exceptionally well, losing only two games throughout the season. All members of the
