The Senior A team also had a very enjoyable season and finished equal second, but actually defeated Clayfield College, who won the Senior A competition. Everyone in the team batted extremely well, with a number of girls scoring home runs, particularly Erin Miller and Katherine Clarkson. Amelia Kerlin, however, successfully achieved the highest batting average. Janet Anderson and Katelyn Pfeffer made a deadly duo, alternating their fielding at second base. Leis Robson was their courageous pitcher, who played with plates in her ankle, due to breaking her ankle last year. The highlight of Anna MCGilvery's season was the game in which she took seve catches in her position of centre field. Erin Lambert was the champion tosser, and did a commendable jobin leading the team.
SOFTBALL
Grammar sport kicked off for the year with the QGSSSA Senior Softball Competition. We fielded two teams, Open and Senior A, both of which had a successful and enjoyable season. The Open team welcomed in four Grade 10 rookies, Amelia Taylor, Geordan Shannon, Kate Robinson and Kate MCKennariey, allwho contributed and added spirit to the team. Louise Hogarth ended the season with the highest batting average of. 521. She batted consistently and reliably, often pulling out extra base hits when we needed them most. Jusveer Rakhra was our energetic centre fielder, who caught balls that everyone thought were impossible for her to reach. Pitching is such an important element in the game, and our pitcher, Geordan Shannon, pitched in a mature and intelligent fashion. She was ably assisted by our first base turned catcher, Gentdine Wright. The opposition batters would tremble in their boots when they came up to the plate, and if they blinked, they missed the ball. Kate Robinson displayed her high skill level with an almost perfect bunt, bringing smiles to everyone's faces. Our motto of "Personal Goals, Passion, Performance" really sums up the season, which bought the Open team a placing of third, behind Somerville House (we played a very close game against them, going down 2-I) and Clayfield College.

Both softball teams had a thoroughly satisfying and fun season. The spirit and unity within the two teams was remarkable, and this was predominate Iy due to Catherine Bradbear's leadership. Every softballer should feel that they contributed to their team's success. These results are the start to a great century of BGGS softball, which I am sure will continue the winning tradition of the The end of 1999 saw the Grade Eight, Nine and Ten teams compete in the junior competition over three afternoons at Downey Park. The Grade Eight team began their Grammar softball careers by coming third, with outstanding efforts from Kirby Short and Gemma Deal. He Ien North and Kate Anderson, together with the four Open 2000 rookies, contributed to the spirited Grade Nine second placing. The GradeTen team also played well gaining third place, with outstanding performances by Amy Hillhouse and Am anda Finlayson. These are excellent results, displaying the incredible depth in Grammar softball, ensuring success for many years to come. BGGS Softball congratulates the representative players' Geordan Shannon and Gemldine Wright were both selected in the Metropolitan North Softball Team and performed outstandingly in this carnival. From this tournament, our champion pitcher, Geordan Shannon, was selected in the Queensland Schoolgirls Team. In July Geordan and Kirby Short represented Brisbane in the State carnival.
