THE SECRET CAVE

The sweating nervous boy looked at his mother with complete disbelief. The fringe of his dark messy hair stuck to his forehead. There was a bulging bruise; obviously his brutal father had hit him. His clothing was damp with sweat, his teeth were clenched, and every single muscle in his body was tense. The gun was pointed directly at the pleading mother's smooth, soft forehead. He shut his eyes with all his strength, and with a piercing scream of pain, anger, and shock from his mother, the trigger was pulled. The older brother grabbed the frail wrist of his bewildered, younger brother and shoved him onto his old, rundown motorbike. The fifteen-yearold boy rewed the bike and the pair SCOoted off to an unknown, mysterious destination. They eventually arrived at a dark, secretive forest of tall trees, which were silhouetted against the blazing afternoon sun. Steam lingered in the crooked canopy. The younger boy with golden hair, and skin that looked soft and tender, was hysterical about his mother's shocking death. He was thinking about the conversation the older brother had shared with the father before he had mysteriously left, never to be seen again. The two boys returned from a scavenge hunt for food with coconuts and a water bottle filled with crystal-clear spring water to a secret, deserted cave. The beautiful, sparkling ocean lapped against its entrance. it had rocks as a roof and twining vines and vegetation weaved through the walls and ceiling. The orange, blazing sun lit up the entire sky, making the white puffy clouds go a pink- orange, which brightened the cave entrance. When the dark night set upon them, their crackling fire waved and flickered in the cave. They hid there for a few lengthy, quivering days. They sat tensely, waiting to be caught and harshly punished. Finally the younger boy took advantage of the lovely scene and sriuck away from his harsh sibling. When he was outin the open, the child took a deep breath of the salty air. There were no waves, but he remembered the wonderful times he and his mother had had while snorkelling together. A tear rolled down his sleek, soft skin and landed in the golden sand. Then he entered the cool, shimmering water, and a small, glistening twinkle could be seen in his light blue eyes. He swam for hours that day, looking for darting fish and coral every colour of the rainbow. That starry night, as the boys indulged in some fresh, reef fish the younger boy reluctantly confessed his small adventure in the ocean that day. The older brother went crazy, smashing, and beating on the walls of the cave. He yelled and screamed at the young boy. it sadly reminded him of the fits his father used to have. The sun rose early, and as bright as ever the next morning, and the little boy awoke, bruised and battered from the night before. He had a large gash travelling from his elbow to his wrist, so he decided to go and bathe it in the salt water of the sea. As he did this, he couldn't fight off the temptation to go snorkelling again. He splashed about. Unfortunately for him, he didn't notice the inurky, blackfigure intensely circling his small, fleshy body. When he did notice he kicked and screamed for help, but his cruel brother was in a deep slumber, and it was too late for him. The gnawed, tattered body washed up later on the quiet beach. The older brother found him, grieved for half a second and then brutal Iy kicked the boy back into the water. The blood stained the cloudless ocean. That luminous night, a howling noise came from the ocean. The dark haired boy went out to investigate, and what he saw was a cloud that looked to be changing its bulging shape. It swirled and whirled and then everything went dead silent. The shape was like his dead brother and mother. He yelled, cursing, and was never seen again.
