Jayde Timey, Behada Deal, and Alex Downs played in the Open Metropolitan North team. These three volleyballers and Marcia Waters, also competed in Perth with the Pirates' Queensland Volleyball teams. in addition to these achieve- merits, Jayde Tnney attended the Australianlnstitute of Sport for a week and was selected for the Australian Youth team which will play in Asia next year. We congratulate these players and look forward to watching them play Volleyball in the years ahead From the start of the HOCKEY season it was evident that all teams had the opportunity to taste success. The early selection trials and pre-season training were keenly contested

The VOLLEYBALL season was a brilliant success, and he a s of fun. The girls played hard and the results reflected their commitment and determination. Some of the games were tough, especially against St Peter's and Clayfield College, and results could hardly have been better with both A Grade and C Grade being Lindefeated premiers, and B Grade and ILinior A Grade coming third. The C Grade, coached by last year's captain, Bellnda Haynes, is definitely to be coinmended as they only dropped one set all season We welcomed many new players this year, the majority of whom were the Junior A Grade. They developed excellent skills and were rewarded witlT great games and results. Three other players were SashaCuffe, MetonTierneyand Susie Skerman who played very well in B grade. Also in B Grade was Annanah Smith, who has played for Grammar for 5 years The PowerAde Schools' Cup was held in July at the Brisbane Convention Centre and allowed the newer players to get an idea of the hLige numbei of students who play Volleyball in Queensland. The Gramma r teams played well but the coinpetition was

tough and none of our teams attained any of the top three positions We had many rep- resentative players this Debbie year Waters, Stella Chiu and Amena Kernn played in the Under 16 Metropolitan North team, from which Amena was se- Iected as a shadow for the Queensland School Girls' team

The new look A Grade team had an inspiring season, winning its competition outright for' the first time in BGGS history. Exemplary team work and dedication resulted in our realising our dreams and expectations. We had a variety of personalities but realised nothing was going to be achieved by playing as individLials. This realisation moulded us into the Grammar A Grade. This teant ^GPresented its school with skill, deter111ination, pride and distinction. 11 was a season which will remain vivid in our memories for years to come B Grade came Lip against tough competition this season, the rain especially played havoc with their premiership ITopes Rachel Einerson and Louise Coney both had consistent seasons and should be coinmended for. theii commitment and contribution to the team's second placing
