We were fortunate to have Vicky Wilson, the Australian Net- ball Captain, assist our shooters, coaches funanda Vanderwal and Tracey Leaso, to guide centre court players, and Kate Miller, He Iena Saunders and Paula Steward to take defences This high level of specialist training obviously paid off with girls developing their skills e ^ The A grade team, under the coaching of Am anda Vanderwal per formed outstandingly, with the high- light of their season being their de- feat of arch rivals St Peter's 51-47 This win saw the A Grade take out the overall Premiership. As well as having success in the QGSSSA coin- petition, the Mazda Cup Team (A Grade) has been successful in pro- gressing into the State Finals Chain- , The two A Grade groups, the "Tallies" and "Sinurfs" also competed well in the A Grade group section, showing the in- novative choreography typical of Grammar. The groups achieved 3" and 2"' placings respec- tively, and ended the evening in a memorable manner Running parallel to the frenetic RSG preparation and coin- petition was the Winter Fixtures program of NETBALL, VOL- ERYBALL, HOCKEY and TENNIS. For the first time ever, Grammar won all overall pennants in these four sports From the beginning, the Grammar NETBAl. IFRS were ready for success, with each player trialing and training with a higlT level of skill, determination and spirit. Each team per- formed brilliantly throughout the season with the results being indicative of the high standard of netballar Grammar. Six teams, the A Grade, D Grade, 9B, 9C, 8B and 8C teams took out Premierships, ensuring Grammar finished the season with the overall pennant The season opened with a netball breakfast for' all teams, a new event on the netball d ,,.,. ,!;'t ^ am E I^^ , ^, pionships and will be looking to defend their State Champion- ship title of 1997. Team members included Captains Suzanna Nisbet-Slimth and Chare Burgess, Harmah Bishop, Rebecca Chaprnan, Katheririe Quinn, JaneMenzies, SatahEst, vick, Kate Prosser, Elizabeth Ernst, Menssa Clarke and Carly Croniri. The open B and C teams played with a high level of skill throughout the season and were placed overall second. B grade had a very success- ful season, but were beaten by SI Peter's despite a great game by all players. The C grade team performed snOngly but were LinlLicky to be beaten by St Peter's and SI Aidan's in two close matches. The open D grade team won the premiership, showing spirit and determination IhioLighout the season and remained undefeated The Year 9 teams had a trium- phant season with the 9B and 9C being Lindefeated and the 9A team, after a I\aid season, achieving fourth place. The Year 8 teams brought a new strength to Grammar Netball and, as a result of their efforts and skill, the 8B and 8C teams were undefeated and the 8A team placed third calendar, which will be- come an annual event. All girls enjoyed eating great food and this event proved to be boni exciting and successful in developing an enoritIOUs alliount of team spirit. Another addition to Grammar netball was the new netball polo shirts and the A Grade litoved into a stylislT ^oyal blue body suit complementing and pares 11k skirt . I. -^ ^' I.
