Theatre Dance

"I have always thought of dance as being magic in many ways, both for those who get their enjoy- ment out of it and for those who live and work in this special world." In these words, Dame Margot Fonteyn reveals the satisfaction and thrill of experiencing dance as both a partici- pant and as a member of the audi- ence . Not only is dancing a form of fitness to keep the body toned, but it is also a way of expressing different emotions and feelings. Every Monday

The energy and enthusi- asm which all girls have shown in preparing for this day should ensure a good response and should also en- courage girls to become members of this exciting club. A special thanks to Anna Sargeant for her continuing dedication and in- spiration throughout the year, like- wise to the senior girls - Meg, Victoria, Carly, Christie, Kate A, Kate M, and Jodie. The lunchtime concert held in May in the Gehrmann Theatre proved to be very popular and is a strong indication of the support given to the Theatre Dancers by the whole school.. The program consisted of both solo and group performances made up of Modern dances, Tap, Contemporaty, and Classical Ballet. Thanks to Chloe and Claire for doing such a good job with the lighting. Another highlight of the year will be our performance on School Day in October, in which the Theatre Dancers will be

to represent the school in dancing competitions this year and is mostly gaining first and honours on our behalf. The junior girls have picked up the thread of the commitment and support for each other and show great promise for the future. Mrs Murphy's support and guidance have been greatly appreciated and have contributed to the overall success of the club. Dancing is like entering another world. It liberates the mind and frees the soul. Experience this for yourself and have fun - join the Theatre Dance Club in 1998.
