One team whose continuing victories have been acknowl- edged by the adjudicators is the Year Nine/Ten team. This team consists of Elizabeth Velkovic, Trish Dowsett, Emily Olsen, Eliza Matthews, Freyr Patterson and Natarshia Soo. Alter con- vincingly defeating Moreton Bay College, they won the district finals. According to teammate Nartarshia, they not only beat the opposition, br-rt they also had them "stumbling through their debate, dropping cards, tripping over their laces and constantly putting their feet in their mouths". The girls now advance to the Regional finals, and if victorious, proceed to the State Finals, an outstanding achievement by any standard. Such achievements would have been impossible without expert coaching from Ms Bolton, Mrs Stubbington, and Miss Dare, and the organisation of Mrs Baslbrd. On behalf of all debaters, I sincerely thank them lor their time and invaluable help and dedication. Thanks also to Mrs Hancock and Miss \(rilliams for their continuing suppolt. The Grammal Apex debaters of 1995 are left to reflect on the trials and tribulations of the debating year. Family and friends BE\fARE! Fierce mouths have been unleashed in the pursuit of eternal rightness. Good luck for the 1996 season and thank you for a memorable year. JACQUETINE MELVILLE APEX DEBATING CAPTAIN
hush fell over the thousands of spectators who had come to witness this elite group of students. These students are the kind with whom you do not mess. Character- ized by the permanent attachment of palm cards to their hands and pockets bulging with Oxford dictionaries, they are our "1egendary" Apex Debaters. Always right, never wrong, our determined 1995 Apex Debaters have both hollered and screeched to prove their opposition wrong. Unforlunately, this yearApex restricted the numbel of teams to one per year 1evel. \il/e regret that some enthusiastic and able girls missed out on competing this year; however, I do sincerely encourage them to try out again in the 1996 season. For the remaining five teams, 1995 has been a year of great wins, wiih much experience being gained on every level. Debating is an activity in which life skills of oratory, self confidence and tolerance are taught. Such ski11s are lnvaluable for our developn-ient in society and as individuals. It is for this reason that I feel that it is Llnnecessary for me to mention all teams' wins and losses. You see, every Apex debater has gained much, whether victorious or not. A11 teams talked their oppo- sition into the ground, growing and learning with every debate, always victorious in the eyes of their coaches and most importantly, their own.
