The J4 team, led by Jodi Hirst, showed progressive im- provement which culminated in their last fixture where they beat competition leaders, Bulimba. The J5s, led by Madeleine Cocolas, showed similar clevel- opment and also developed a very strong team feeling which will hopefully carry over to 1996. It was pleasing to see both "rookie" coaches, DeenaAiken and Bridie Potter, recognised by the BWHA and presented with a coaching encouragement award.

The two captains, Megan deleacy and TrinityRyan, christened two sculls 'Invicta' and 'Intrepida' respectively, while Mls Hancock broke the cham- pagne to name our new quad the 'McKellar', in recognition of the contribution Paula McKellar and her family have made to Grammar rowing. The competitive season culminated, for most crews, at the Head of the River, held this year on the Hinze Dam on 9 September. This was the inaugural year of a trophy for the school with the most overall points, with points being awarded on the basis of participation in each race.

The Division 7 team completed their fixtures in second position and had to win the preliminary final for the right to play in the Grand Final against archrivals Pine Rivers which they did in fine style. At ful1 time, after an exciting match as befits a grand final, the score remained2-2and even after 15 minutes of extra time, the teams couid not be separated. The premiership came down to a penalty shoot out. The age and experience of the Pine Rivers team gave them the edge to take the premiership. The team was proud of its performance and this season provided a wealth of experience for all players. Training for the 1995 ROWING season commenced in April with a record intake of Grade 8s made manageable by our welcome move to the BGS shed. This term was devoted to hard work, fitness and ski1l development in preparation for Term 3 when our regattas started in earnest. The highlight ol these was the joint St Peter's/Gir1s' Gram- mar regatta on 12 August. Following this auspicioLrs occasion, Grammar Rowing held a boat-naming for the new boats

Grammar received third place - a commendable effort, indicating the consistency and depth of talent present in the rowing squad as a whole. Although al1 crews put in their best effort, there were a few crews who deserue special mention for their outstanding performances, firstly, the Under 16 zfld IV, (Sarah Black, Melleah Clarke, Caroline Porter, Amy Kleindienst and
