FACULTY OF ENGLISH As part of the Faculty policy providing enrichment of curricu- Ium, and of bringing "The Real World" into our classrooms and learning environments, students in Subject English have enjoyed and benefited from the expertise and experience of a range of guest speakers, writers, and performers
in May, thirty Year 9 students attended an extremely enter- laining talk presented by the acclaimed British writer, Anne Fine, at the Slate Library auditorium, as an extension of their study of an adaptation of one of Anne Fine's works, The Gi'anny Ployect. Anne Fine described the writing process which she employs, offered pragmatic advise to aspiring young writers, and displayed manuscript copies of some of her twenty-five novels for examination by students. A Department of Education film, in which some of our students participated, was made of the session, and will form part of a Meei Tile Author series which is in production.
