Ingrid Hadgrart squad. ingrid was presented witli a handsome trophy, and a generous book voucher, while the school won $300, which was subsequently used to buy a new camera foi' the Media Department In orid GPitomises the "All-rounder". She 11as been involved in music, sport and service through her highschool career at high levels, including leadership. Her academic achievement has been consistently excellent, and in the past year she has maintained her standards and coin- initment both academically and as a school Prefect. Ingi'Id has always enjoyed a love of languages and is CUI'- rently studying boili French and Japanese. She hopes to combine them with her future careei, a challenging ambi- lion, but one that ingrid's recent achievements in so many ai'Gas of her life suggest she is both ready for and capable of. Sarah Lehmann, one of the Prefects, devised the forInat for the day and those who weren't involved flocked 10 watch. it was an enjoyable fund-raising event and songs like 'Dancing Queen' and 'Blame it on the Boogie' were heard echoing around the School foi. days afterwai. ds Not all comments at meetings were requests for improve- merits in the School. 11 is pleasing that many house groups are prepared 10 ask their representatives to coinmend the School on various matters, such as the way in whicli 111e gardens and school grounds are maintained. The active participation of girls from all yeai' levels and house groups has continued to make the SRC a vital and representative forum for discussion and for the dissemina- tion of infoiTnation on all aleas of school life. Year 12 student Ingrid Hadgraft took honours in this year's Japanese Speech Contest (organised by the Consulate of Japan) winning First Place in the national Final of the Senior A Division. Having won the reginal finals, Inarid was flown to Canberra for' the national Final on Sunday 23 August. Her prize is a trip to Japan which Ingrid will take in 111e new yeai' accompanied by her mother. in April, Ingrid had demonstrated her prowess in public speaking but this time in English, when she was named Quota Student of the Year. This competition began with a sei'ies of searching interviews designed to test her knowl- edge of history and current affairs, and also to question her about her extra-curricular interests, and her involvement in 111e community. The second stage was the presentation of a prepared speech to an audience of Quotarians, other con- testants, assorted parents and friends and a BGGS support INGRID HADGRAFT
