cockatoos on doorknock ventures. Cirls braved the early mornings in aid of Lifeline, the Blue Nurses, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the Queensland Cancer Fund and found their efforts to be most satisfying. Within the school, lnteract conducted a very successful interhouse stamp competition and 12 Hirschfeld must be congratulated for their winning efforts. 36,500 stamps were collected which immunized 5000 children of the third world. Throughout the year an Easter Raffle, Smartie guessing com- petition and toffee apple stall also proved successful, high- lighting where Crammar girls' priorities lie! This year lnteract has successfully served the school, com- munity and international ties because of the trernendous support given by members. Without their efforts this year would still be a figment of the Board's imagination. The Board also had another 'strong force' to contend with ...... Thanks must go to Mr Emery, our teacher representative, who kept all of us on our toes while he quietly lost a nail or two or three ...... Finally I would like to thank the Board, Kristin Stewart, Anastasia Anastas, Fleur Martin, Leonie Story, Nicole Haines, Mei Onions and Peta Crease, for their support and patience, particularly when the President lost hers, and would like to wish the incoming Board and the lnteract Club every success in the future. Kim Skubris PresirJent.
I NTE RACT Phewl Another lnteract year is over and it is no wonder that the club's members can look back and smile. With the $7500 raised we have been able to assist organisations such 4s the Spring Hill Noah's Ark Toy Library, the Leukaemia Foundation and the Queensland Cancer Fund which was the district charity for this year. What can I say? The girls really enjoyed raising fr-rnds forthe charities we suppoft and had a wonderful incentive ..... guys! Armed with buckets, squeegies, detergent, sponges, towels and posters the masculine brutes of Boys'Crammar assisted us in our first venture ..... a calwash! Over seventy students participated in the seven hour activity, which proved to be one of the most successful fundraisers on School Day. Traffic stopped as eager girls and guys per- suaded cars to be washed and although students were drenched as frequently as the cars donations proved to be very generous. The $500 raised on the day was donated this year to the B.C.C.S. Restoration Fund. With so many clubs in the school we had to be cunning when it came to fundraising within our community. The so- lution was obvious. We homed in on the girls' greatest weakness ..... chocolate! Cirls could be seen munching for miles around, particularly in the Boarding House sector thanks to Mei Onions' hardsell techniquesl Sunday mornings, so sacred to students, were frequently and courageously given up by members who instead faced pyjama-clad people, energetic dogs and talkative
