DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD SCH EM E
1989, under the careful guidance of Miss McAdam, began with a promising start for the candidates of the Award Scheme. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is composed of three levels: Bronze. Silver and Cold. ln each of these levels, your sections must be assessed over a certain period of time. The award is given at the completion of all your sections: skills, service, physical recreation and expeditions' The number of participants at B.C'C.S. is very large, and many of the girls are approaching the completion of Bronze or Silver Awards. Congratulations must go to Paula Samios, Miriam Axelsen, Alison McCallum and Allison Bowcock on receiving their Bronze Awards. Kristin Stewart and Jacqui lliff received their Silver Awards in February and they were presented with their awards at a presentation at Covernment House in July' The types of activities for each of the sections of the awards differ greatly. Skills cover a range of activities such as reading, photography, music, sport, languages and the arts' Service helps community organizations while Physical Recreation and Expeditions improves the performance of the individual.
