STRING ENSEMBLE 7.30 a.m. - Thursday morning - Strange sounds begin to emanate from the Cehrmann Theatre. Occasionally a shout can be heard. "Play out, enjoy it! lt's just soooo beautiful." Then silence. Miss Myers is busy attempting to extract some "interesting" sounds from the exclusive group we call String Ensemble. String Ensemble has been actively involved in many concefts throughout the year including the P. & F. Meeting to welcome new parents, a music committee meeting, end of term concerts, B.C.S. Artists in Concert, a welcome to Japanese students from Matsusaka Cirls' High School, School Day, the music Camp Concert, and the Festival of Music concerts at Chandler. lt has been an extremely successful and busy year enjoyed by all. J U N tOR STRTNG ORCH ESTRA This year's Junior String Orchestra commenced in Term Two. Many new year Eight students have since joined, which has expanded it to a very reasonable size. The group is conducted by Miss Myers, with Mr Bofinger ('cello teacher) helping. ln Term Three, Miss Toft (a student teacher from Qld Uni.) came to Brisbane Cirls' Crammar School, and she also came along to the rehearsals to assist in conducting. We performed successfully on School Day and are currently working towards the Chamber Music Concert in September. Belonging to Junior Strings is a very enjoyable way for players to expand their skills. This group consists of violins, violas, ,cellos and double bass and we are already showing a great improvement from the beginning of the year. Many thanks to Miss Myers, Mr Bofinger and Miss Toft for their assistance in improving our playing and our enjoyment of music. Brooke Marsh Leader.
