FLUTE QUARTET Flute quartet this year consisted of Elizabeth Murrell, Kylie Vann, Mary- Jane Bennett and Tara Marsh. This year we were able to perform in one of the school music concefts and also on School Day. Two other flute players, Janet Hawke and Sarah Broughton, joined us to perform as a sextet on School Day, but unfortunately due to other commitments, we were unable to compete in the Pine Rivers Eisteddfod as was planned. Under the guidance of Miss MacAskill, the school flute tutor, we were able to rehearse and perform a variety of music ranging f rom classical to modern. Through performing as a group, we have gained a valuable and enjoyable experience, and I hope that the future leader and group obtain as much pleasure from such performances as r did. PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE The Percussion Ensemble is now in its second year under the enthusiastic guidance of Mr Smith, the Cirls' Crammar percussion teacher. The group is growing in number and ability, giving us the chance to perform at school concefts and in competitions. With the purchase of a marimba earlier in the year, the variety of pieces we can play has increased, setting the Percussion Ensemble on the road to a bright future. Simone Coogan
REEDSOUND This year a new group called Reedsound was formed under the guidance of Miss A. Laver which provides an opportunity for oboists to experience playing in small groups, thus improving their talents and abilities. The members play a number of trios and duets, and hope to perform these pieces in future concefts.
