1989 School Magazine

wooLcocK 1989 saw an image change by transforming our girls in yellow into the Woolcock Wild Ones. We have proved to be truly wild with our enthusiastic efforts. Our talented cast in the Drama competition worked very hard to achieve a commendable third placing. Numerous Woolcockians donned yellow bathing caps and yellow zinc cream to prove once again that we were a force to be reckoned with in the Swimming Competition. The cheering matched our new "Wild Ones" image, and was led frenetically by our special mascot who danced, talked, flashed his yellow crest and squawked. The Wild One was, of course, Mr B's 'Woolcocky'. We were ecstatic to achieve second placing. The next competition proved Woolcock's forte as our Artistic Cymnasts danced, leapt, cartwheeled and swung rheir way into FIRST PLACE. The Rhythmic cymnasts, strongly represented by Year Eights who look set to rule this field in the future, were just 0.2 away from victory and very proud of second place.

The Wild, Wild Woolcockians achieved their best performance in house spirit barracking the Cross-Country team to second place. House spirit was also evident at the lnterhouse Athletics where every competitor place was filled despite much sickness. A commendable overall fourth placing was achieved with a valiant second in the relays, provirig that team-work beats talent. Our sincere congratulations go to Tracey Kitcher who quietly convinced everyone to compete in all of these events throughout the year. The Choral competition is yet to be held but may Woolcock's musical ability bring fantastic results to round off a truly wonderful year. Special thanks must go to all the year Twelves who made it our best Woolcock year ever! A bravery award should go to Mr Bromiley who consented to be our House Cioup Teacher for a third year, organizing T-shirts, House Assemblies, Barbecues and tolerating my disorganization and the high noise level in one small room. Unfortunately, he could not continue in Semester Two because of academic responsibilities but now enthusiastic Mrs Marsh encourages and guides us. Woolcock Wild Ones Rule - O.K,l
