part of the fun of Chamber Strings, that is, the rrew friendships we have made. Our f irst major performance this year was at School LDay and we thank you for your support and encouragemeirr on that occasion. We had a very enjoyable time and are looking f orward greatly to our next perf ormarrce. Thanks must also go to Miss Myers and Miss Carey anci all the members of the group for their commitment and energy. All in all, Chamber Strings has had a vet-y successful year. ,EJNJg@R C@NCffiRT ffiAND Junior Concert band started off with a bang this year under the direction of our new conductor, Miss Eaton. Each Thursday around thirty girls gave up their lunch time to attend exhilarating practice sessions. These rehearsals definitely paid off when on the eight of June we gathered in the school auditorium to make our f irst public appearance for 1988. We gave a most exciting rendition of Haydn's "surprise Rock" and the "Clog Dance" from Appalachian Trail. After a restful holiday, the girls came back allset to start rehearsing once more and to prove that although we're a Junior Concert Band by name, we are by no means junior by standard. Our thanks to Miss Eaton and good luck to future Junior Concert Band members. Elizabeth Blackford Susan Pearn ChftAMBER STR]NCS The members of Chamber Strings are mainly Year Eight and Nine students who assemble in Miss Myers' room every Wednesday morning at 7.30a.m. for an enthusiastic practice. There is a wide variety in the types of music played, with pieces r"anging from swing jazz to early chamber music. Although we had a hard time getting organized, we are now used to the early morning practices and enjoying 4B
