NETBALE. Netball once again proved to be extremely popular with the Grammar Girls in 1988. Although the season did not officially begin until third term. The enthusiasm was shown by the number of people attending trials and, when the teams were eventually chosen, attending those dreaded 7.00a.m. trainings in quest of a premiership in ,OO 0u. All teams were fortunate to have dedicated and experienced coaching to make the season successful. The nine rounds of the winter season were played on successive Saturday mornings, with the majority of games being away. Thanks must go to the Grammar umpires who followed us wherever we went - in particular Craham White, Ed Little and old girls, Linda Brusasco and Sallyanne Johnson. The "Netball News" proved to be a huge success, as;rr previous years, with everyone waiting in anticipation to read the goal shooter awards and the team reporis i:or each week. This year the Interhouse Netball competition \ /as reintroduced and organised by Stephanie Tsui. Tnis airned at giving those girls who missed out on making the school teams, a chance to play and keep their skills goi:rg for next year. Representative honours this year 80 to our own A Cracle Legend, Kirsten Moore,whowas notonlyselected in the U17 State Team which'competed in Sydney, but was aiso chosen in the U17 Australian Talent Squad which trained for a weekend early in August. Well done, Kirsten - though it's a pity you missed St Peter's! Other state players this year include: Ann-Maree Hili (Coach "8"), Kathrin Sherman (Coach "9A"), Bronwyn McMillan (Coach "8A"), and last but not least, Miss Derrington, who was successf ul in being chosen in the State Open Netball Team once again. Although the lnterschool Netball is not a populai- spectator sport like the C.P.S. Rugby, we stillappreciate the supporters we get - which are mainly our parents - so thank you to al the Mums and Dads who came out io watch Saturday after Saturday. Finally, after thanking everyone lshould have, I remember the most important people of all, THE PLAYERS!!
