HOCKEV REPCIRT When the long awaited Flockey season began in July 1983, the A, B and C teams returned to the fields with enthusiasm. Unfortunateiy the efforts of the players were not reflected in the final scores, as none of our teams managed to clinch premierships this season. Congratulations still go to the Club F{ockey team who came fifth in their division and special encouragement also goes to the C Grade who repeatedly obtained unbelievable scores in their games. trf the victories ran short, the entertainment certainly did not, and from sprint trainings to on-the-field birthday parties, hockey practices were the place to be in 1983. We aiso played host this year to a visiting team from Oakham School in England. The students were celebrating the school's 400th birthday and we were privileged to welcome them to Girls' Grammar and show them the sights of the city. Many long lasting friendships were made during their short stay. Finally, thanks go to our hard working coaches who were, this year, Mrs. Cormie, Mr. Burns, Mr. Noble and Mr. Madden. o We wish you all the best of luck for the seasons to come. NETB,ALL REPORT The 1983 season was a most successful and enjoyable one. We welcomed back Carolyn Somerville as our A Grade coach, and Nancy Collins as our B Grade coach and were very happy to adopt Janelle Derrington as our new Grade 9 A coach. The girls of the Netball teams would like to thank our three extra coaches for the enthusiasm and also Mrs. King who had the mammoth task of coaching the Grade 9 ts tearn. The ,{ and F Grades began their season's preparation before the end of semester break and their enthusiasm and skill was evident in their both coming second in the Q.G.S.S.S..A. competition to State F{igh. The C team came third with the help of reserves drawn from the D Grade squad, which trained seriously all season under N4rs. Flarvey-Short's coaching. Our successes of the season were the Grade 9 A and Grade B A teams, both winning their respective premierships from E.S.F{.S. and St. Feters respectively. This is the first I A premiership for many yeans and suggests great things are to happen in future years for Grammar Netball. Congratulations once again to the winning teams and their coaches, and special thanks to Mr. and N4rs. Somerville and our tireless spectators for their encouragement and support. Good luck in 1984. Suzanne Coates (Captain) and F.F{.S.
