CLUB E{&CKAV Club F{ockey has never been a nna.jor force in the school but this year we decided to mahe our presence felt. There were twenty-two girls in the team and therefore, everyone had a chance to ptray, spectate and cheer. ,{fter weeks of enjoyable games, the team finished fifth in our division. We rounded off this successful season with an equally successful break-up at the Fancake Manor. Thanks must go to Marg Comino (an old Grarrimar girl) for the support and friendly encouragement she gave the tearn. On behalf of the Senior team members, { would like to wish Club Hockey the best of luck and the continuation of good spirit for future seasons. Susan Duke
,ART{STIC GVM The Gymnastics season for n983 was most successful. Enthusiasm at the training sessions, which were held three times a week, was very noticable and it was good to see the number of Grade 8's involved. After some weeks of training and rnany stiff muscles we were pleased to have a Sunday session with Mrs. Lyn F{ughes, who staged a mock competition. She is an accredited Australian judge and we were fortunate to have this chance to be marked on our various routines and to know where our faults lay. This was followed by an evening at St. Peters' Gymnasium, to allow us to become familiar with the venue where the competition was to be held one week iater. The Q.G.S.S.S.A. Competition was held on Saturday, N4ay 2g, and we rnust thank the Grammar girls, who volunteered to help organise the day. This year we were not as successful as in previous years. This was not due to our lack of trying but rather to the general improvment of the other schools. It was pleasing to see the results spread over so many schools, and ours were as follows: The Gymnastics season ended with the successfui sports presentation at the end of the semester, and our thanks must go to all the teachers who helped organise this and particularly to Miss Williamson our coach, and to Mike Moore a leading Queensland gymnast, who visited the school and so ably assisted her. I would also like to personally thank Susan Sinnamon for her help as Vice- Captain and Paula Martin and Lisa Watkins for printing our distinctive T-shirts. To all those girls who will continui competing in the next few years, I wish you good luck and urge you to practice your routines well, so that you maintain the standard for which Grammar has become known.
