RF{VTE{&qNC GVPNNASTXCS Rhythmic gymnastics training began very early in the year, mainly because the Q.G.S.S.S.A. Competition was in May. Initially as many as 40 girls vied for places in the Hoop, tsail, and Ribbon t.eams. Hopefully this enthusiasm will continue in the years to corne. trn April, just after Easter, the tr982 F{oop and R.ibbon teams performed their routines at the State Rhythmic Gymnastics titles held at St. Feters'. Three B.G.G.S. students, Vicki Powell, Nicole Schoutrop and Lisa Soediarto, competed successfully in their respective grades in these titles. Our teams also performed weil. F{owever, serious training for the fast approaching competition began. Morning practices and'evening practice at St. Peters' (where the competition was held) and a weekend practice were well attended. The results were: Hoop: St. Margarets' 1st B.G.G.S. 2nd Clayfield C. 3rd Ball: ts.G.G.S. 1st Clayfield C.2nd E.S.H.S. 3rd Ribbon: B.S.FI.S. 1st St. Margarets' 2nd E.G.G.S. 3rd Although we did not win all three, as we did last year, all the girls worked hard to gain the places they attained. Credit must go to our wonderful coach, Mrs. Magnusson, for our routines, all of which gained the highest composition marks in the competition. Mrs. Magnusson has been an enthusiastic coach, and on behalf of the teams, I thank her. Karyn tr-un Year n2
