T,A CAPEI,N,A Early in second term Miss Duggan formed a madrigal group of eight girls and five boys to join the music tour in June. Christened "La Capella" ("a' capella" means unaccompanied, which many of our songs are) we practised hard, especially during Music Camp. Our debut was made at the Music Camp Concert and was received with most welcome enthusiasm. The tour came soon afterwards - our repertoire included a variety of songs ranging from traditional Madrigals to Bartok. Perhaps the most popular was the Gloria from a modern Leonard Bernstein mass. Though originally formed to perform only on tour, we decided to continue on, and in August we were invited to perform at a private gathering in the home of a B.G.S. tutor. In fourth term we will continue to perform at Recital Evenings. Many thanks must go to Miss Turner, our pianist, and to Miss Duggan for her perseverance and excellent conducting, which have made every performance so far a success.

The Choir has performed at numerous exciting events. including our first appearance as a group for this y.a. ai St. John's Thanksgiving Service. Since the service, we have participated in many B.G.G.S. Recitals and were guest artists at the school's Concert Band Reunion. At the height of this successful year, the Choir sang extremely well at the Pine R.ivers Music Contest for secondary schools and won the award in their section very convincingly over the other competitors. Thank you to the sixty members of the choir for participating in choir activities throughout the year. Thank you also to Miss Duggan and Miss Turner for their assistance throughout the year. Melissa Herron and Linda Yule ffiffiffi CT{ORALE Chorale began the year with diminished numbers, but most definitely enthusiasm ran high. Our finest performance was at the Recital Evening in March when our prograrnme included "I-ift Mine Eyes" and the ever- popular "Linden Lea". .A,fter the next recital evening in May, where we sang excerpts from Brahms' "Songs of Love", ten of us formed a madrigal group which entered in the Pine Rivers Music Competition for Schools. Under the skilful and encouraging direction of Miss Hebden, we achieved a very high standard and enjoyed the experience immensely. We will perform at the end of third term at AII Saint's Parish F{all, and at the Prom Concert in October. We have also been invited to sing at an Evensong at St. John's Cathedral, and hope to be involved in a carol evening at the end of the year. Many thanks and best wishes to Mrs. Best, our accornpaniest, and to our wonderful conductress, Miss Hebden.

VEAR 8 CHONR REPORT Under Miss Duggan's inspiring guidance and Miss Turner's brilliant accompanying, the Year 8 Choir has soared to incredible heights of excellent group singing.
