Duke of Edinburgh The Duke of Edinburgh Club, in true royal fashion, has had a busy year. With an influx.of grade ten girls at the beginning our numbers were boosted to a.hearty fifty. Of tneselnirtyl five are on Bronze and the.remaining fifteen working to;;;, Silver. The aim of the Duke ol Ediiburgh Award Scheme is to make its members proficient in a raige of fields: "^p"ai_ tion, social and physical activity, interesi and service. is a result there have been a variety of activities carried on throughout the year. P-11" candidates, for the social section, have attended a 'Making the Most of yoursell course and Silver f,opefuts have been attending drug seminars with a Department of Health representative. There have also been Expedition Training lectures to put the girls a step in the right direction before-camping. On the weekend ol the 8th and 9th of August, about fifteen girls went to Allowah Camp Site, raw reciuits eager to gain 3l] tl9 "experience" they cbuld, thanks to the hJlp of fftis McAdam, Mr. and Mrs. Cave, Mr. Stewart and Mrs. Torney. I n9* and exciting experience for several Siver candidates has been the attending of canoeing camps run by the National Frtness Council. There have been training camps at Tallebudgera and Noosa and a test camp at Lake Cathacaba. Although the girls are often cold, wei and exhausted the camps are always enjoyed. On the Japanese Cultural Day our gourmet talents were ex_ hibited when we cooked damper and bilty tea for the forrG; visitors.. A.rgpeat performance occurred on school day whin we made'delicious' damper and offered it to those who would venture forth. Thanks goes to Mrs. Torney, Miss McAdam, Miss Cahill, and Mrs. Chowdhury for iheir support and inuoluemeni throughout the year. Rachel Wise
