LIFESAVING 1980 This year B.G.G.S. entered two teams, 'A' and 'B' into the lnter-School Lifesaving competition. As usual it was held at St. Margaret's. The competition was postponed indefinitely f rom the original date of March 29th due 1o a spate of power strikes and was later held on April 12th. The 'A' team came 6th as did the 'B' team, over overall placing also being 6th" Although we didn't do as well as we did last year, both teams are to be congratulated for their efforts in both training and competition. Thanks must go to Mrs. Cave who dedicated herself to the ar- duous training throughout the extended training period. Caroline Smith.

SURF LIFESAVING REPORT A large group of girls starteci Surf Lifesaving at the end of '1979 under the guidance of Jimmy Martyn (a former Mooloolaba Club Captain). We all passed our Resuscita- tion Certificate with near enough to a hundred percent, and it was only the wilds ot winter which prevented us f rom obtaining our Bronze Surf Medaliron on the 1st July - we intend doing it when the water warms up! Durrng the year many dropped out and the remaining band of dedicated enthusiasts consists of Kim Skuce. Claire Sproule, Robyn Belcher, Anne Graff , Jenny Graham and Liz Moles. Everyone has put a lot of effort and training into this new- ly established sport and we all hope that in future years others will realise the value of it. With weekend trainings in third term, by the end of second semester the school should be proudly boasting a Surf Lifesaving Team - a fi rst. God save the Lifesavers!
