*S"desaee ed*d -&res The year began well for the science club with Mr. Ian cook from the university eivine, a talk on Entomology ro about eighti g#1". Although no other mieting had as manv iri atlend- ance, thg numbers stayed hieh throughout the year, and several projects, wiih varyin! degrees of success, were attempied. our ' ro"rp**"kG efforts in particular, showed no great abititv b;; Mr. Peake of campbell Bros., pointed out our rnistakes during a talk in which he demonsrrated the cold process of soap-making. He mer with much more success than- we did: The only outside activity undertaken bv the club so far this year was a visit ro the S";; Experiment Station. About twenty girls, accom- panied by Mrs. Hill, rnade the visii, in which the e.quipment at the station was explained and demonstrated, and a great deal learned by thor. who aftended. school Day v/as the next big event on the calendar. Here, I am somy to sa'y the le"el oi co-operation beforehand dropped considerably. It uras left to a loyal few to -prepare what turned out to be a cornprehensive and interesting display. on the day, however, most of the girls-inuotu"a did their share and the afternoon wenr smoothly. I would like to thank, for their assistance, Mrs. -{}rs.lry'n, @e Science Club Mismess, and especially Mrs. Hill who went' to grear trouble for us, and although only urith the slhool a short }iry., has proved herself an able and willing helper. Also I would like ro thank very much Alayne Paulger, the Secretar_y, and Loraine Batt, th. Treasure!,_ without whose unstinting efforts the Science Club would have collapsed. Although this is necess afily a resmicted- nqembgrship club, it still depends on the supporr of girls to survive, and if yo.r put even a small amount of effort into ir, you will gain a lot in return. To _ next year's officers and mernbers, I wish a good year with plenty of interesr and ih. support of an even larger section of the school. *gC.JT{. .-ruf,es The student christian Movemenr has had a very successful yer owing to the enthusiasm of gLI members and the help and advice given bv Mrs. Fallon.
