2022 School Magazine
CHINESE CLUB T he BGGS Chinese Club is an immersive cultural group where students across all Year levels can participate in engaging Chinese activities. This year, students have been involved in all kinds of activities ranging from creative calligraphy sessions to fun Chinese board games to helpful tips in preparation for our exams. The club is a great way to meet and interact with other like-minded students whether they are in a younger or older Year level. It is a relaxed and amiable atmosphere where the discussions are invaluable—an opportunity to go above and beyond in students’ understanding of Chinese culture, lifestyle, and language. Each Monday lunchtime is a great opportunity to experience something new and we are all very grateful to Mrs Quinn for the organisation of this club and her passion for spreading Chinese culture. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB
I n 2022, Digital Photography Club has definitely ‘bloomed with the blue’! All students have kept their eyes keen behind the lens and their creative juices flowing, by organising and participating in a plethora of activities and events. This involved creating stencils with
Term 3 saw an introduction into portrait photography and experimentation with pop art, Andy-Warhol style, as well as refining our post-production editing through Photoshop. We would like to sincerely thank our coordinators, Ms Loye and Ms Harrow, for their continual efforts in organising activities and for always fostering an engaging, interactive, and creative space during Photography Club sessions for the girls to explore and hone their camerawork skills. We look forward to welcoming more students to the Club next year!
cut outs and filling in their ‘clothes’ with the surroundings. The girls had a wonderful time exploring the School campus for suitable backdrops, including the new Science Learning Centre. Another significant highlight of the year was food photography. We held two different photoshoots—the first having a ‘rustic’ theme in response to the cool weather, which featured wooden chopping boards, doilies, pomegranates, pink salts, and coffee, and the second being flashy and colourful. Interest piqued at the thought of doughnuts, cupcakes, sprinkles, fruit loops, and all things sweet, which brought the snaps to life. We then treated ourselves to the sweets—after we had done the hard work of course!
