OUTDOOR EDUCATION MARRAPATTA SENIORS T he School’s Marrapatta Memorial Outdoor Education Centre is in Imbil and provides girls with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the outdoors, to push their own boundaries, and engage with their peers. It is a very special experience as it allows students to learn and grow in an environment different from everyday classrooms. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 partake in different programs, all aiming to encourage students to connect with themselves, nature, and each other. The Marrapatta Senior program provides the opportunity for Year 10 girls to attend Marrapatta with each Year 7 class. They act as mentors and ‘older sisters’ for the Year 7 girls, helping guide them through the program. As Marrapatta Seniors, we were lucky to be able to make close connections with the students, as well as assisting staff with the smooth running of the program. Marrapatta Seniors can provide their personal insights and experiences throughout the program, by teaching students to set up tents, waterproof sleeping bags, cook on a Trangia, and so much more. Overall, as Marrapatta Seniors we are grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and connect with some of the younger girls at our School and develop our leadership skills. Darcy Basford (10H), Elsie Jackson (10B), and Freya Lennon (10L)
