JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
E very year, the Year 7 cohort takes part in Jump Rope for Heart, which is an annual program that raises money for the Heart Foundation, while also allowing children to be active. It took place in the McCrae Grassie Sports Centre in the last week of Term 2. As the name of the program suggests, we jumped rope while fundraising for the Heart Foundation. After the skipping was finished, we received a visit from the mascot of the program, Happy Heart. Overall, it was a great introduction to Service at BGGS, and I will surely remember this program for many years. Eve Wilkinson (7M)
BRISBANE GIRLS GRAMMAR SCHOOL 2022 | 061
O n Wednesday 15 June, all Year 7 students participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraising day. In our House Groups, we took turns in partners trying out lots of fun skipping techniques which we had been practicing in HPE. Everyone had so much fun skipping with friends to raise money for vital heart research, and we were even lucky enough to raise $3 751 for the JRFH foundation. A big thank you to all the staff who made the day possible and the Sherwood Arrows who gave us an amazing demonstration of their jump rope skills a few weeks prior to the event. Chloe McCullen (7E)
HEALTH PROMOTING SCHOOLS
H ealth Promoting Schools is a Service Group established in 1996 with the purpose of increasing the awareness of health issues in our society. The group provides an opportunity for students to organise events, promote healthy lifestyles, and educate the School community on various health issues. All proceeds from our events are donated to our supported charity, the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation. Just this year, Health Promoting Schools has hosted many exciting events to raise money and awareness for this important cause. These included two different health breakfasts made by our group, a staff vs student Basketball game, and sharing information about Cervical Cancer Awareness Week. Under the coordination of Ms Minuzzo and Ms Leone, our Service Group has been able to raise a total of $1,282.80 for the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation this year alone.
