2022 School Magazine

ARTS FEST U pholding our 2022 Arts motto, Create Beauty in the Blue , our main goal for Arts Fest was to share the joy of the Arts at BGGS. By giving students the opportunity to display their own talents and appreciate the true beauty of those of their peers, this jam-packed one-week celebration of all things Art shone a light on the creativity that exists within our School community.

The event’s theme, Once in a Blue Moon , was used to highlight the importance of taking advantage of the plethora of opportunities offered in Grammar Arts—opportunities that are enhanced by the Grammar sisterhood and are unable to be replicated outside of the royal blue. With the help of the Arts Council to decorate the CLC with retro, intergalactic posters and banners, our artsy world came to life with busking, Visual Art exhibitions, Drama Productions, student-teacher debates, and much more. Despite some less-than-ideal wet weather, the BGGS spirit did not waver for even a second, with a sea of enthusiastic Grammar girls showing their support and gratitude for each and every event. Our decision to hold a badge designing competition also saw an overwhelming participation, particularly from the junior school, and we proudly donated all funds to the School Charity, Beddown. Ultimately, Arts Fest provided a snapshot of the beauty of the Arts at BGGS and celebrated the major role that the Arts play in our school. Ella Hore (12R) and Emma-Rose Neil (12M) ARTS CAPTAINS

DIVERSITY DAY

050 | BRISBANE GIRLS GRAMMAR SCHOOL 2022

O ne of many highlights on the Service calendar in 2022 was Diversity Week. Throughout this week, BGGS students were prompted to truly experience and express this years’ Service motto, Generate Generosity . The week commenced with Giving Day, a celebration and recognition of excellence and education within the Grammar community and a day on which all were invited to give back to the wider community through funding future bursaries. Following this was the Uralla forum on Wednesday which applied the broad concept of ‘Connect’. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Ms Lu, Ms du Plessis and Mrs Minuzzo, staff at BGGS who immigrated to Australia, about their unique, trans-cultural experiences.

On the Thursday was a School-wide celebration of love, under the slogan All for love, love for all , which emphasises the importance of not just tolerance, but appreciation and genuine love for all our differences. It was incredible to see students engaging in dressing up, busking, and an all ages picnic on the pool lawn as they spread the love during Diversity Week. Simran Mackrani (12H)
