HOCKEY

T his year we had five BGGS Hockey teams entered in the QGSSSA competition: two junior and three senior teams. These teams exemplified team spirit, sportsmanship, and unity, and enriched the strong Hockey culture at Brisbane Girls Grammar School.

Our goals for the 2022 squads centred on unity and bringing spirit, which was evident with the high number of girls at training on Wednesday afternoons. We warmed up together and practiced with intent and purpose to prepare for our games. This determination at training was evident in the results achieved, with three of the five teams placing in the top three of their division. The Open team placed placed sixth, Senior A (Blue) placed second, Senior A (White) placed fifth, Junior A placed second, and Junior B placed second. Needless to say, none of this would have been possible without the support from our parents, coaches, and our Hockey Coordinator, Mr McGarry. His organisation and coaching were vital to our success this season. It has been an honour to be Captains of such a spirited cohort, and watch each girl improve. NETBALL

N etball at Brisbane Girls Grammar School is always enjoyable, competitive, and successful, and the 2022 season has been no different. We were so happy to see the commitment and excitement from girls at the season's start. This allowed BGGS to enter 21 teams in the QGSSSA competitions. A huge congratulations must go out to all the girls, as despite all the obstacles everyone continued to put in 100 per cent. Throughout the season we saw a massive improvement in not only their Netball skills, but also their teamwork. The hard work most definitely paid off with three of our teams taking home the premiership, and 11 teams finishing in the top four.

Without the dedication from all the players, coaches, staff and our incredible coordinator, Ms Rees, this season would not have been possible nor nearly as enjoyable as it was. Sarah Hains (12O) and Zoe Meade (12H) CAPTAINS
