2011 PROVED To BE ANOTHER IAM-PACKED YEAR FOR ALL GiBsoNiTEs. THE YEAR BEGAN WITH THE TRADITIONAL INDUCTION OF THE NEW YEAR 8S, WHERE BRIGHT-EYED AND ADORNED WITH PURPLE RIBBON, THEY WERE WELCOMED INTO THE HOUSE AND INITIATED BY SWEARING THE PHANTOM OATH. IT WAS GREAT To SEE ALL GIRLS LOOKING EXCITED FOR THE YEAR AHEAD As OPPORTUNITIES AROSE To SHOW THEIR HOUSE SPIRIT.

The House Party was a perfect opportunity for everyone to get involved. Consisting of games such as knights, mounts and cavaliers, a doughnut and jelly-eating competition and a scavenger hunt, it was a great day for all attendees. Each House Group also performed a skit, showcasing their unique talents. Despite the food, games and dancing, the highlight was definitely seeing over a hundred girls decked-out in purple and overall, the afternoon was a great way to kick off Term I. Our firstlnterhouse competition wasthe Swimming Carnival. it proved to be a challenge but we placed second thanks to the Gibson girls' fighting spirit. Our enthusiasm and participation were the driving forces that ensured all the fun that came out of the rest of the Interhouse events (cross

country, athletics and choir). With everything from purple tatus to in orphsuits, the costumes at each House event were extravagant, inventive and a great display of Gibson spirit. Despite the hectic nature of Term ill, Open Daywas definitely a highlight. The long-running strawberries and ice cream stall was superbly organised and run by the Year 115 with the help of their House Group teacher, Mrs Greig. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Year 11 the night was a huge success - all the girls had fun while representing their school and House with pride. in the lead-up to the School's Grammar^ Got Talent competition, the House held a mini talent show, with representatives from each H use displaying their rou outstanding skills.
