LATIN ANNA ANGELOS (8O)
I thoroughly enjoyed Year Eight Latin! From learning about the life of Scintilla and Quintus, to the Roman Gods, I found the Latin language so fascinating. All the Latin bingo and dress up games made the class even better! Even though it’s not as popular as some of the other languages, I’m really glad I chose to do Latin. It helps me understand the English language so much more than I thought ever would. It also challenged and encouraged me to go beyond my comfort zone. It was such a great experience and I cannot wait to start Latin next year in Year 9! ■
JAPANESE I have had a very enjoyable year in Year 10 Japanese. A key learning point for me was in Term III when I hosted an exchange student from Japan. I was given the opportunity to speak to a Japanese student and learn about Japanese culture and traditions. I was able to achieve a better understanding of the language I was learning and make improvements to Japanese in Year 10 was very fun and enjoyable. Each term, we learned about different topics such as places, urban/ rural areas and school trips in Japan. We also learned how to convert verbs and adjectives into negative forms. In Term III, we were able to interact with the exchange students, which was really helpful and interesting. I had lots of fun studying Japanese this year; I’ve learned so many interesting things about Japan’s places, culture and lifestyles. I’m glad I studied this subject!
