all faces. Some groups whose numbers fall short of this total, even resort to force, basely sending out sorties to kidnap a person or two from a larger group. It is now obvious that great importance is attached, not only to positions and persons, but also to small round, brown ·objects which have acquired a faintly sinister aspect on account of the numerous intrigues necessary to gain possession of one. ln these manoeuvres, three groups stand out, as evidently commanding great respect and obedience, and these three groups can commandeer one of the brown objects without a demur from the dispossessed. Their muscular stature and domineering air, no doubt account for this. The strategical manoeuvres appear now to be drawing to a close, the tension relaxes a little and some more hardy souls even exchange smiles. Then, it now being quite light, a white- dad figure appears above, and the crowd gather below, gazing up expectantly, obviously about to hear words of great purport, concerning these sinister, mysterious operations . A few words are spoken, an order given, a whistle blown- and the school athletics practice begins in good earnest. -MARGARET LOWE, VIB.
