The whisper is a roar! A murmuring roar awakening ,_ Life and death a thousand ages old. A mighty roar- Tension mounting like A tautening wire of steel must snap . Creatures hide. And thickens, moving, whirls Like wind-tossed seas at dawn. A half-light Bi-ings reprieve, a breathing- Space for things in terror torn. Quivering fur In terror yet feels joy And holding gladness in despair Listens then, To sounds above of bending trees, And cracks which cut the dimming azr. Lightnings flash. And drumming fills the gloom, Below, the dream world slowly re-awakes. The world is alive! 'Mid all this-fitting- The storm in glory breaks. And in the trees, fire seems To run into the pulsing sap. The air is green,

THE LONELY SURF-RIDER

Waking, he hitches to the beach, His board within his easy reach.

He sits down and surveys the waves, The thing for which he lives and craves. Taking his board, he feels the thrill Of cold water and hears the shrill

Cry of birds who in their flight, Laugh ot the surfer and his plight. The surfer returns as dusk is falling, Leaving the birds to their shrieking and calling, I s life too easy for this lonely surfrider, Remembering the birds who must search wider?
