Our Pres ident, Mrs. T. G. Bain, invited mem- bers to a dinner at Rowe's on Friday, November 27th, at 6.30 p.m. Ovsr seventy Old Girls attended and many apo logies were received from others who were unabl e to attend that evening. The banquetting hall was ve ry tastefull y deco rated and many old faces were seen talking animate ly over pre-dinner savouries. Following the dinner, Mrs . A. E. Mcluca s, herself an Old Girl, and wife of the Headmaster of the Boys' School, gave a short address on "Life in a Boarding School. " Thi s proved to be very humorous to many of us. Miss Marion Williams spoke on her recen t trip abroad and thus gave many of us ve ry itchy fe et , I fee l sure. The usual toa sts were proposed, and our President was the recipient of a small gift in appreciation of her active work for the Association during 1953. Again, this year, the President's " At Home" will be held too late to be reported in this issue of the magazine . OLD G-IRLS' DAY The first function for 1954 was Old Girls ' Day held at School qn Saturday, April 3rd . The customary matches in Tennis and Basketball were played against the Present Girls. Once again , the Old Girls ' record remained unbroken in the Tennis matches, as they won both the A and B Grade matches, but lost the C Grade to the Present Girls. Our A team comprised: Mrs. Sybil Elves , Dawn Bennett, Heather Lyon and Kath Mcluckie . The B team : Jean Scarborough, Val johnson , Aileen Duncan and Dawn Duncan. The C team : Jennifer Jones , Narelle Cumes, Jean McGhie and Barbara lansbury . The Basketball teams comprised: Audrey Marwood, Elizabeth Marks, Jill Malouf, Pam Napier, Shirley Rooney, Lois Murphy, Veryan White; Lesley Anderson , Jennifer Meredith, Dawn Bartlett, Lenore Beak and Les- ley Clark. This is the first year for a long time that the Old Girls were able to beat the Present Girls, as six of them were memb"'rs of the school 's 1953 premiership team . During the afternoon a Bring and Buy Stall was conducted by the ·convenors of the Variety, Toys and Babies' Stalls at the forthcoming Fun Fair, to raise funds for materials, etc. This proved to be very successful, netting over £10 to be divided between the three convenors. Afternoon tea this year was provided by the Parents ' and Friends' Association of the school. My Association takes this opportunity of thank- ing our kindred Association once again for the ir gene rous help . The Committee wish to thank Mrs. Sybil Elms and Miss Audrey Marwood for arranging the tennis and basketball teams, respective ly . 47
