NETBALL Netball at Brisbane Girls Grammar School is always enjoyable and successful, and the 2017 season was no different. We were both so proud of the record number of twenty-one teams entered in the QGSSSA competition, who gave it their all each week to achieve the best possible outcome. There were some great results this season as well as many personal improvements which did not go unseen. The season was filled with hard work, determination and teamwork, and we are excited to say that we contributed to four premierships and twelve teams finishing in the top four positions. We want to congratulate every one of the girls who contributed to this result as it is a true reflection the dedication, commitment and hard work which was evident throughout the entire season against extremely tough teams and in true Girls Grammar spirit. We want to commend the spirit and commitment shown all season by the Year 7 girls who completed their first netball season at Girls Grammar and took out two premierships. That determination has proven itself on court with fierce and developing netball skills which we know has already influenced the direction of an even more successful future for Girls Grammar Netball. Without the dedication from all the players, coaches, staff and our incredible Co-ordinator, Ms Rees, this amazing season would not have been possible or nearly as enjoyable as it was. As Netball Captains, it was an honour to lead the 2017 Netball Squad made up of wonderful and passionate young sportswomen who have such great talent and played with integrity and school pride week-in and week-out. During the 2017 Brisbane Girls Grammar School Hockey season, our girls performed outstandingly in their training sessions and games and should be immensely proud of themselves. This year we were lucky enough to lead six teams of excited and passionate hockey players who put their strength and determination into playing out a great season. Highlights of the season can be seen through our commendable winning of three out of four premierships. These three wins include the Senior A Blue team and the Junior A team and Junior B Blue team. We have been privileged girls Grammar to have been coached and mentored on and off the fields by Olympic Gold medalist and sport inspiration, Angie Lambert. We are sad to see our co-ordinator leave after this season, as she has made her years at Girls Grammar triumphant and has worked to improve each and every hockey player. The hockey girls this year have unified and brought an array of individual strengths to their teams which have been the key to the successful season. We know that these successful outcomes this year display the hard work the girls have put into training sessions and games and motivate them to continue being part of the hockey community at Girls Grammar and encourage more to join for the coming seasons.
